A journey into the future with generative AI This year I had the opportunity to bring my ideas to the stage of the WMF - We Make Future , and I presented a journey into the world of generative Artificial Intelligence that I would like to propose again in this post. The WMF 2023 Generative AI Talk Our journey begins with Hans the Intelligent , a horse who, in the early 1900s, was able to make mathematical calculations even of a certain complexity, communicating the result by tapping his hoof.
Not simple sums! For example, the best known problem he solved.. “ if the eighth India Mobile Number Data day of the month is a Tuesday.. what is the date of the following Friday? ”. Hans the clever Hans the clever In reality, Hans did not know how to carry out the operations. He had learned to observe the reactions of the spectators to understand when to stamp his hoof and when to stop. This is still extraordinary for a horse! Hans, today it's called ChatGPT . A system capable of performing complex tasks, of demonstrating intelligence and understanding, but which in reality is only well trained on our way of expressing ourselves . This is still amazing for an algorithm! For example, our Hans can create flawless content like the following in just 10 seconds.
Text generated through generative AI: an example of hallucination Text generated through generative AI: an example of hallucination But our Hans also made us aware of new problems... such as " hallucinations " ( the production of content that does not correspond to real facts ), which can really create a big problem of misinformation . The content of the previous image, in fact, is a clear example of this: the text is syntactically correct, but the facts do not adhere to reality. However, we must be careful. Hallucinations often result from not knowing these systems . And I'd like to prove it.
